Back to Lexicon Entries List Churchill, Winston Spencer (1874-1965) British Prime Minister between 1940-1945, from the Conservative Party He was well known for his parliamentary oratory, and kept on reminding the USA of the basic kinship of Anglo-American ideals. Churchill was ready to help Russia against the Nazis, although he saw her for a long time as a dangerous power. Up to the end of the war Churchill dealt with USA and the Soviet Union with awareness of the declining British power. He died in 1965. Back to top
